Alabama Next Generation Emergency Network

ANGEN is the Alabama Next Generation Emergency Network, a project to install an Internet Protocol (IP) network to allow handling 9-1-1 calls via IP. At the Board's March 18, 2015 meeting, a motion passed  to put the ANGEN project on hold. No further development is planned during the current contract.​

In December 2014 all carriers completed their conversion to ANGEN. Since then all wireless 9-1-1 calls route via the ANGEN network.
