Geographic Information System (GIS) Program Manager Job Posting (closes December 27, 2019)

The Alabama 9-1-1 Board recently released a Next Generation 9-1-1 Geographic Information System Request for proposal.  We are seeking proposals from qualified vendors of Next Generation 9-1-1 GIS services whose proposed solution(s) and services meet the requirements specified in this RFP.  The expectation is that the vendor will supply a GIS services solution to the State of Alabama or any geographical area within.  This GIS services solution must seamlessly function within the existing NG9-1-1 services platform, the Alabama Next Generation Emergency Network (ANGEN).

To manage the Board’s new GIS program, we are now accepting applications for a Geographic Information System (GIS) Program Manager.  The GIS Program Manager position administers and supervises the activities of an agency involved in planning, organizing, coordinating and delivering high level GIS services. Work involves responsibility for providing technical expertise and supervision of day-to-day implementation and operation of the GIS within the context of programs and policy directives; coordinating GIS activities; managing GIS vendor and/or partnership contracts; planning and organizing system development activities, and other public and private GIS-related project management activities under the general supervision of an agency executive.  The work of the GIS Program Manager is performed independently within established policies, procedures, and guidelines, and is reviewed through reports, conferences, ongoing evaluation, and system performance.
