Alabama 9-1-1 Board Grant Program-Cycle 7

The seventh cycle of the Alabama 9-1-1 Board Grant Program is now open and accepting applications.

The overall goal of the Grant Program is to provide financial assistance to Emergency Communication Districts (ECDs) based on demonstrated need(s) in compliance with §11-98 et seq. of the Code of Alabama 1975, as amended. The purpose is to fund non-recurring costs necessary to achieve or maintain continuity and enhancement of 9-1-1 assuring that every location in Alabama has equitable access to 9-1-1 service.

Now that all primary PSAPs in Alabama have been migrated onto ANGEN as of May 2021, the Board continues to work toward the goal of end to end IP call delivery and the creation of the necessary databases required for an NENA i3 compliant NG9-1-1 system.  Two key focuses of this grant cycle will be the elimination of legacy connections via gateways and legacy call handling equipment that remain in the system and the completion of the Board's NG9-1-1 GIS Project.

The application period for Grant Cycle 7 opens today, May 31, 2022; applications are due on or before August 1, 2022.  Review of applications will take place during the month of August 2022 and grants will be recommended for award at the Alabama 9-1-1 Board meeting on September 21, 2022.
